MEDICAL REASON: `I certify that Corporal Robt Hossack has had frequent attacks of Rheumatism from the effects of Indian Climate and has also been frequently in Hospital in this Country for the same Complaint, he received a severe injury of right side by a fall down stairs in 1843 injuring his liver and right Kidney, he has now become very infirm and totally unfit for active military duty.

Opinion of the Principal Medical Officer, at Chatham 10th December 1845: After examination after 103 days treatment in this General Hospital, I am of opinion that Corporal Robert Hossack is unfit for Service, and is likely to be permanently disqualified for military duty, and I approve of the opinion of the Surgeon.
