DESCRIPTION - In this study of American 'Standard Ships' of WWII, the authors examine the sophisticated successors of the 'Liberty' ships. Over 500 'Victory' types were built in the USA and their story is told here for the first time - their construction and fate and a history of each vessel tabulated by name, yard number and grouped under their respective builders. In the second part of the book similar details are given for the tankers - known as the T1, T2 and T3 types. From the 700 tankers built, many were later converted into a variety of other types from bulk carriers and container ships to dredgers, fish factory ships and even an 'Apollo' tracking station. Illustrated with 51 photographs and 6 drawings.
